On September 5th, U2 fans will have the opportunity to witness a truly unique and immersive concert film experience. V-U2: An Immersive Concert Film at Sphere Las Vegas, directed by Morleigh Steinberg and The Edge, will open at the state-of-the-art venue where it was shot. This film chronicles the Irish megaband’s U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency, which took place from September 2023 through March.

V-U2 is the first film to be shot entirely with Big Sky, Sphere Entertainment’s ultrahigh-resolution camera system. The goal of the film was to provide moviegoers with an experience that would be as close to a live U2:UV concert as possible – and even exceed their expectations. The Edge expressed his excitement by saying, “I’ve never seen a U2 show. I’m so relieved I caught a great one.”

Director Morleigh Steinberg highlighted the collaborative effort behind the making of the film. She emphasized how the work became a true collaboration between the band, artists, producers, and technology teams. The end result is a cinematic experience that truly captures the energy and beauty of a live U2 show.

U2 has been captivating live audiences for nearly half a century, with a remarkable track record that includes selling out stadiums worldwide, winning 22 Grammys, and selling over 53 million albums in the U.S. alone. The band, formed in Dublin in 1976, continues to dazzle fans with their original lineup of The Edge, Bono, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullin Jr.

As of now, there is no confirmation on how long V-U2 will be screened at Sphere. However, for fans who may not be able to make it to Las Vegas, the show will go on with or without their presence. The immersive concert film promises to transport viewers into the heart of a U2 live performance, offering a unique and unforgettable experience for fans all around the world.
