IMAX has recently announced a deal with Muvi Cinemas, Saudi Arabia’s largest exhibitor, to launch four new Imax With Laser locations in the country. These locations are set to be opened in some of the most prominent commercial centers in Saudi Arabia, including two in Riyadh, the capital city, one in Jeddah’s Mall of Arabia, and the first Imax system in Dhahran. The planned timeline for the opening of these new locations is by the end of this year for three of them, with the fourth expected to open in 2025.

The CEO of Muvi Cinemas, Adon Quinn, expressed his excitement about the partnership with IMAX, stating that they are always striving to deliver the best cinematic experiences to their guests and maintain their position as the market leader. This collaboration with IMAX emphasizes their dedication to providing unparalleled, world-class experiences to their audiences. On the other hand, the Imax CEO highlighted the significant growth of the company in Saudi Arabia in recent years and the untapped potential that the country still holds. By partnering with a premier exhibitor like Muvi, IMAX aims to meet the strong demand for immersive movie experiences in the region.

Saudi Arabia has consistently been ranked among IMAX’s top 20 countries worldwide since the company started its commercial operations in 2019. Blockbuster movies like Oppenheimer and Bad Boys: Ride or Die have performed exceptionally well in Saudi Arabia, making it a prime market for a wide range of films, including Hollywood releases, as well as local content from India and Japan. The upcoming 2025 global film slate will include a record 14 “Filmed for IMAX” releases, catering to the diverse tastes of the Saudi audience.

Currently, IMAX has 10 operational locations in Saudi Arabia, with plans for an additional 22 locations in the works through its partnership with Muvi. The company estimates that they can potentially open up to 50 IMAX locations in the country, showcasing their commitment to expanding their presence in this thriving market. With the agreement with Muvi, IMAX has now joined forces with the top four exhibitors in Saudi Arabia, solidifying its position as a leader in the cinematic experience industry.
