Seth MacFarlane, the creator and star of Family Guy, recently discussed the possibility of ending the show after 22 seasons. In a new profile commemorating 25 years since the show first aired, MacFarlane reflected on the program’s continued success. He mentioned that despite previous thoughts of wrapping up the series, there seems to be no compelling reason to do so at the moment. As long as people continue to enjoy it and it serves a charitable purpose, MacFarlane sees no need to stop producing new episodes.

Family Guy had a rocky start, premiering in January 1999 on Fox only to be canceled after two seasons. However, the show found a second life through reruns on Cartoon Network and DVD releases, gaining a loyal following among viewers. Fox eventually decided to revive the series, leading to its consistent airing every year thereafter. Currently in its 22nd season, Family Guy has become a staple in the realm of animated television.

MacFarlane is responsible for voicing multiple main characters on the show, including Peter Griffin, Brian Griffin, Stewie Griffin, and Glenn Quagmire. Seth Green lends his voice to Chris Griffin and Neil Godman, while Alex Borstein provides the voices for Lois Griffin, Tricia Takanawa, Loretta Brown, and Barbara Pewterschmidt. Mila Kunis rounds out the cast with her portrayal of Meg Griffin.

As Family Guy continues to entertain audiences and generate revenue that supports charitable causes, the question remains – should the show eventually come to an end? MacFarlane acknowledges that the decision ultimately lies in the hands of the viewers. If interest dwindles and the numbers indicate a lack of enthusiasm for the series, then it may be time to consider concluding the show. However, as long as Family Guy remains popular and continues to bring joy to its fans, there seems to be no immediate need for its conclusion.

Family Guy’s journey has been filled with ups and downs, but its enduring popularity speaks volumes about the impact it has had on audiences over the years. Whether the show will continue for additional seasons or eventually reach its end remains to be seen, but one thing is certain – Family Guy has left a lasting mark on the world of animated television.
