Studiocanal, a renowned Paris-based production-distribution company, is expanding its reach by launching an office in New York City. This strategic move comes as the company aims to further solidify its presence in the United States. Anne Chérel has been promoted to the role of Chief Commercial Officer to lead the operations of the NYC office. Studiocanal already has a strong foothold in the American market with its office in LA and ownership stake in The Picture Company.

The new NYC office will primarily focus on collaborating with American distribution partners to effectively promote and distribute Studiocanal’s film projects in the region. This approach is part of Studiocanal’s broader strategy to seamlessly integrate distribution and global sales for all its productions. By working closely with third-party distributors, the company aims to maximize the reach and impact of its films in the competitive American market.

Studiocanal has several exciting projects in the pipeline, including the eagerly anticipated third installment of the Paddington franchise, which is being released in partnership with Sony Pictures. Other notable collaborations include Back to Black with Focus Features, We Live in Time and Huntington with A24, and Wicked Little Letters with Sony Pictures Classics. The company is also in “advanced discussions” with an American partner for the release of Paris Has Fallen.

Anne Chérel’s promotion as Chief Commercial Officer is part of a series of executive-level changes at Studiocanal. Dominique Jubin has been appointed as the Head of French Drama at the company’s Canal+ Group counterpart, Ciné+ OCS. Additionally, Isabelle Pain, former Netflix France executive, has joined as the Head of Global Acquisitions & Analytics, and Sara Reese Geffroy has been brought in as the SVP of Studiocanal Stories label and TV series development.

In addition to overseeing the operations of the NYC office, Anne Chérel will continue to manage global distribution for Studiocanal. Since 2020, she has played a pivotal role as the EP of Global Sales & Distribution, ensuring the successful international distribution of key films such as Autumn and the Black Jaguar, Back to Black, and Beating Hearts. Chérel’s extensive experience in the global market and exceptional leadership skills have been instrumental in building a strong sales team at Studiocanal.
