Paramount made a huge splash at CineEurope by presenting an exclusive extended look at Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated sequel, Gladiator II. Despite the nearly two-and-a-half decades that have passed since the original film, Scott promised that Gladiator II is “well worth the wait.” The audience in attendance today seemed to agree, showing their enthusiasm for the upcoming release. The pre-roll clip introducing the footage featured stars such as Denzel Washington, Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, and Joseph Quinn. Fans can expect this epic sequel to hit theaters globally in November.

President of International Theatrical Distribution, Mark Viane, took the stage at CineEurope to reflect on Paramount’s successful start to the year. He highlighted hits such as Mean Girls, Bob Marley: One Love, and IF, promising attendees the “biggest Paramount presentation ever” at the event. Viane also treated the crowd to two extended 3D scenes from the highly-anticipated September release, Transformers One. Star Chris Hemsworth even sent a video message praising the film as “out of this world.” The buzz around this film was palpable, with a recent work-in-progress screening receiving a standing ovation in Annecy.

The focus then turned to prequels, with a sneak peek at A Quiet Place: Day One. Directed by Michael Sarnoski and starring Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Djimon Hounsou, and Alex Wolff, this origin story delves into the catastrophic events that occur on the first day the aliens arrive on Earth. Nyong’o promised audiences a thrilling experience, with the city going from loud to eerily quiet in the face of danger. Additionally, attendees were treated to the first five minutes of Smile 2, the sequel to a surprise 2022 horror hit. Director Parker Finn’s new installment introduces viewers to a fresh set of characters within the same terrifying universe, eliciting audible screams from the audience.

As the presentation continued, Paramount revealed an exclusive sneak peek at the holiday release Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which introduces the mysterious character Shadow. The studio also showcased footage from the dark comedy Savage House, starring Richard E Grant and Claire Foy, as well as an animation test of the upcoming Smurfs film. The diverse lineup of upcoming releases had attendees buzzing with excitement, setting the stage for an exciting year ahead in cinema.
