The English-language adaptation of the beloved fantasy book “Momo” by Michael Ende is making waves with its star-studded cast. Alexa Goodall has been cast in the lead role of the young orphan girl Momo, with Araloyin Oshunremi, Kim Bodnia, Claes Bang, Laura Haddock, Jennifer Amaka Peterson, David Shütter, and Martin Freeman rounding out the main cast. Goodall’s first look in the film has been revealed as production takes place in Croatia and Slovenia.
Production Details
The film is being produced by Christian Becker and directed by Christian Ditter, who acquired the rights to the popular novel a few years ago. “Momo” has been translated into over 50 languages and has sold more than 13 million copies worldwide. The story follows Momo, a young orphan living in the ruins of an old Roman amphitheater, who befriends everyone in the neighborhood. However, when a powerful corporation begins stealing everyone’s time, Momo and Master Hora must step in to save the day.
“Momo” is a Rat Pack FilmProduction in collaboration with Constantin Film Production and Westside Filmproduction, along with Michael Ende Productions and Pakt Media. The film will be distributed in German-speaking territories by Constantin, with Rocket Science handling international sales. The project has received funding from various sources including FFF Bavarian Filmfund, MBB Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, FFA Federal Film Funding, DFFF German Film Funding, and HAVC (Croatian Audiovisual Centre).
